Statement on Heart Disease & Dog Food

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating a possible dietary link between certain grain-free pet foods and canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a type of heart disease found in dogs. According to their recent statement, dog foods containing potatoes and legumes (such as peas, lentils and other legume seeds) that are listed as primary ingredients are of concern and potentially have a connection to DCM.
